Methods and Activities

Pre-Conference Activities:

1) Contact your partner teacher and determine the qualifications for the project. You may want to cover country, state, county, or city government. You should discuss what parts of the government you'll present. This could be how laws are made and passed, who makes decisions, how laws are enforced, military topics, etc.

2) Prepare a presentation describing the aspoect of your govern which you and your partner teacher have agreed upon.

3) The presentation can take many forms: Power Point presentations, posters, plays, etc. Let your imagination run here.

4) Students should be well versed in the topics they are covering and should be prepared to answer questions from their partner class.

5) Students should also study the government of their partner class and form questions to ask during the appropriate time of the conference. Pre-written questions work well because students have an idea of what to ask and class to class discusiion is increased.

Materials

Student created posters, Power Point presentations, or other forms of visual aids.

Videoconference Details.

Time: About how much time will it take? It's probably best to keep this close to one class period.

Responsibilities: What will students do? What will teachers do?

Agenda: Who will do each part? Which site? What visuals will be used for each portion? You can copy some sample agendas from here.

Credit: Is credit due to another educator for some of the ideas for your project? It's good to mention this as well.
